The following frameworks, guidelines, and laws will guide us as we work on this website.
- United States of America Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)
- World Wide Web Consortium Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
Conformance status
Where applicable, we will update our conformance status to the appropriate standards.
Web Content Accessibility Guideline conformance status
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) provides a set of guidelines that defines the requirements for providing accessible content. These guidelines are known as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines ( WCAG ).
The members of the W3C accessibility committees develop these guidelines with the belief that every person who assume the responsibility of creating content will make a sincere effort to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
My website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
Technical specifications
The accessibility of our Web site relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:
- HTML
- WAI-ARIA
- CSS
- JavaScript
These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.
Assessment approach
We will continually assess the accessibility of our website by the following approaches:
- Self-evaluation
- Automated testing. We use the following tools to assist us with automated testing.
- axe DevTool – A browser-based accessibility checker developed and maintained by Deque Systems.
- Accessibility Checker. A WordPress plugin developed and maintained by Equalize Digital.
- IBM Equal Access Accessibility Checker – A browser-based accessibility checker developed and maintained by IBM
- WAVE. A server-based accessibility checker developed and maintained by WebAIM.
- Collaborative testing
Note that the automated testing tools may detect some technical issues, but they will not be able to detect all accessibility issues. As a result of these limitations, we utilize feedback from people with disabilities to identify any accessibility issues that are not covered by these automated tools.
